This file contains important information about the extensions which interface Remus to products from other developers, such as SCSI accelerators. Please read it before using any of the files in this folder.
NEW EXTENSIONS:

ATTO SILICONEXPRESS II and ATTO SILICONEXPRESS IV:
Atto SiliconExpress II boards with ROM versions older than 1.4.0 may not work properly with Remus. As with all boards, we recommend using the latest ROMs. You can check your revision by looking through the report from the “Generate Remus Report” menu command once Remus has been installed. (The revision level is listed in the “Slot report” section of a long report.)
It is important to use an active SCSI terminator with the board; read the section on SCSI in the Remus manual for more information.
The Atto SiliconExpress boards require some minor configuration before they can be used with Remus. To do this, open the “SExpress” control panel which came with your board. Make sure that “Allow Disconnect” and “Always Install Driver” are checked for each drive which will be used with Remus. The “Asynchronous SCSI” option should not be checked. It doesn’t hurt to check “Always Install Driver” on all SCSI IDs, and if you will often be moving drives between boards or changing SCSI IDs, this is a good idea.
The bottom of the “SExpress” control panel should look like this when you are done. (If you are not using drives with every ID, you do not need to check the boxes underneath the unused IDs—but it doesn’t hurt.)
Complaints of “missing” drives or poor performance are often caused by configuration problems, so always check that the configuration is correct as a first step in troubleshooting.
BUSLOGIC-COMPATIBLE (BT-848) BOARDS:
A number of vendors supply boards which use BusLogic-compatible firmware. The BusLogic plug-in may be used to control all of these. It is important to use an active SCSI terminator with such boards; read the section on SCSI in the Remus manual for more information.
These boards support bootable partitions; see the Remus 1.1 Addendum for more information on bootable partitions.
FWB JACKHAMMER:
If you will be using the Jackhammer board with Remus, you should first install ROM revision 3.0.2 or later; as with all boards, we recommend using the latest ROMs. It is important to use an active SCSI terminator with the board; read the section on SCSI in the Remus manual for more information.
This board supports SCSI Manager 4.3, and hence does not require a separate plug-in. If it is being used on a machine with SCSI Manager 4.3 in ROM, it may be used for bootable partitions; however, bootable partitions are not supported on machines without SCSI Manager 4.3.
SIXTY-EIGHT THOUSAND RAID WARRIOR:
All revisions of this board should work properly with Remus. It is important to use an active SCSI terminator with the board; read the section on SCSI in the Remus manual for more information.
This board does not support bootable partitions.
CARAVELLE NETWORKS:
As with other test modules, this must be loaded using the “Appletalk Test Modules” menu command, and device testing turned on with the “Appletalk device specific testing” checkbox of the “Device Test Options” menu command, before it will be invoked. The module tests that all Remus partitions on the computer being monitored are in a normal state; degraded or otherwise non-normal partitions will be noted in the comments field.
